Jason Prevelige, DMSc, MBA, PA-C, DFAAPA, has been a practicing PA since 2009. He currently serves as the Advanced Practice Provider Leader in the leadership team for the Emergency Department at St. Mary’s Hospital, in Waterbury, Connecticut. He has worked at St. Mary’s since graduating from Quinnipiac University’s PA Program with a Master of Health Sciences and PA certificate. He also has worked for Connecticut Children’s in hospital medicine, neonatology and urgent care medicine since 2010. He previously worked for Liberation Programs, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, where he practiced addiction medicine and psychiatry.
His leadership in the PA profession began at Quinnipiac where he was treasurer of his class. Proudly his class raised $10,000 for the AAPA Host City Project, and won Outstanding Student Society at the annual AAPA conference in 2008. Shortly after PA school he was drawn into ConnAPA leadership by his good friend and classmate, Andrew Turczak, who was already involved with the ConnAPA Board of Directors.
With a desire to serve his profession instilled into him early in his student days at Quinnipiac, PA Prevelige went on to serve ConnAPA in a variety of roles. He has chaired several committees including Conference Planning & Education, the Constitution & Bylaws Committee, Nomination Committee and currently chairs the Legislative Committee. He has also served multiple roles on the Board of Directors including: Director at Large, Vice President (two terms), President (two terms) and Immediate Past President.
In his time with ConnAPA he has been involved in many successes including partnerships with surrounding state academies, successful and innovative Charter Oak Conferences, setting ConnAPA up to be in a strong financial position, and many legislative wins such as: changing the PA-Physician relationship from one of dependency to one of collaboration, elimination of the PA-Physician ratio, inclusion of PAs in over 100 areas of statute that did not already include PAs, and conversations in effort to ensure that PAs can work with less administrative burden so that patients have increased access to care. He found that one of the most rewarding aspects of his involvement though has been the ability to serve alongside good friends such as Quinnipiac classmates Mick Devanney, Deanna Zimkus and Andrew Turczak, as well as all of the new relationships he has formed.

PA Prevelige has been motivated by his experiences with ConnAPA to continue to serve the profession at a national level. In 2023 he was elected President-Elect of the American Academy of Physician Associates, and previously served the AAPA as Director at Large, as well as in service to the House of Delegates as a Chief Delegate and Delegate, and in various roles such as Reference Committee Member and Chair, Credentialing Committee Member and appointment to a task force to harmonize AAPA policy. He has further served the Academy as an Audit Committee Member, Finance Committee, as a Board representative to the Commission on Continuing Professional Development and Education as well as the Commission on Research and Strategic Initiatives, Member and Chair of the Judicial Affairs Commission, and as founding Chair of the Early Career PA Commission. He has also enjoyed spending time on Capital Hill in Washington DC speaking with legislators about matters important to PA practice while in attendance at the annual AAPA Leadership & Advocacy summit.
In 2021, PA Prevelige again graduated from Quinnipiac University with a Master of Business Administration degree. Most recently, in December 2023, PA Prevelige completed a Doctor of Medical Science program at the University of the Pacific. He is an alum of Sacred Heart University, where he earned a BA in History. He is an adjunct faculty member of the Sacred Heart University and Quinnipiac PA Programs, and clinically instructs PA, medical and NP students from multiple programs.

A native of South Florida, and forever a Miami Dolphins fan, PA Prevelige resides in Fairfield, Connecticut with his wife and young son, where he volunteers as chief of his local volunteer fire department. More than anything, he enjoys spending time with his family and traveling to see new sites with them. He sits on the Board of Directors of Operation Endeavor, a non-profit he helped form that is focused on rescuer education in impoverished nations and domestic disaster response. He has twice traveled to Nicaragua where he has endured harsh conditions to provide medical care to isolated, indigenous populations. He currently is serving a term as a member of the Town of Fairfield Board of Health.
PA Prevelige is honored to have been recognized by his peers for some of his efforts. He was awarded the designation of Distinguished Fellow by the AAPA in 2021. The Sacred Heart University Alumni Association awarded him the Volunteer of the Year award in 2019. The Quinnipiac University PA Program bestowed the honor of the Distinguished Alumni Award in 2017. The Stratfield Volunteer Fire Department awarded him the Humanitarian Award in 2015. He has been the recipient of several ConnAPA awards, including twice with the President’s Award, the Initiative Award, the Leadership Award, the Service Award, and a Certificate of Appreciation.
