Cohort 2026 is in block 8, with many students working in their selected elective areas. They are excited to be graduating in May, with preparation courses planned and study plans in place for the PANCE.

Cohort 2027 is entering their final semester of didactic education and is excited to mark this milestone with their White Coat Ceremony coming up on March 12th. Students are also looking forward to beginning the clinical chapter of their education on March 23rd!

UB welcomed Cohort 2028 last week as they began their first week of classes and are excited to dive into didactic year. Students are also looking forward to their upcoming class mixer with Cohort 2027!

All cohorts are looking forward to a fun evening at the annual PA Gala on March 7th! The gala is our version of a “PA school prom,” giving students the opportunity to dress up and enjoy an evening of dinner, dancing, raffles and time bonding with their own cohort and others!

The Class of 2026 is currently focused on completing their final clinical rotations. Following this, students will finish a variety of longitudinal assignments, including thesis papers and student-developed service-learning projects, which will be presented to faculty and peers. Groups of students have also been completing Stop the Bleed trainings throughout the community, reaching organizations such as the UConn Pre-PA Patient Care Alliance. Alongside completing electives and scheduling PANCE exam dates, the class is actively preparing for their May graduation and transition into clinical practice!

The Class of 2027 has returned from winter break and is beginning their final didactic semester, starting with psychiatry. During the winter semester, the class demonstrated a commitment to service and community engagement by supporting two blood drives, partnering with For All Ages to bring the Good Life Series to local retirement communities, pooling funds to purchase Christmas gifts for two families, and continuing to visit the Franciscan Center with Sister Beth to offer blood pressure/sugar checks. Additionally, they launched a longitudinal project exploring healthcare disparities, which will culminate in a presentation to peers and faculty. As the spring semester progresses, coursework will shift toward integrating clinical knowledge within population-based modules, including pediatrics and geriatrics. Prior to rotations, they will also further develop clinical skills such as suturing and sterile technique.

The Class of 2028 has begun their first semester of PA school! They were welcomed to their didactic year with orientation and mentor pairings. Currently, they are developing foundational skills in obtaining a comprehensive patient history. Their first clinical medicine module, infectious disease, begins in the coming weeks.

The Class of 2027 has had quite the start to their PA school careers! They kicked things off by celebrating PA Week with a fun and memorable appearance at theToday Show, representing the PA profession on a national level and showing off their Sacred Heart University spirit on live TV. The class also gave back to the community by volunteering at Sacred Heart’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s, supporting an important cause and coming together outside of the classroom.

On the academic side, the class closed out 2025 by wrapping up their first trimester of the didactic year—a huge milestone and no small feat. During this trimester they became familiar with gathering patient histories, performing patient assessment techniques, and finished with completing their first OSCE! After months of late-night studying and adjusting to the rigorous pace of PA school, winter break was a much-needed reprieve. They are now back into the full swing of didactic year and moving right along into their Orthopedics and Rheumatology module. We’re excited to see how the Class of 2027 continues to grow and build confidence as they take on the next phase of their training.

The class of 2027 just recently finished their fall semester of didactic! They finished their medicine course and have been practicing their physical exam skills, wrapping up the semester with standardized patient physical exam simulations. Some highlights of the semester were PA week, where students enjoyed a ConnAPA sponsored breakfast and some even traveled to New York City to join hundreds of other PA Students on the Today Show. The Holiday Dinner was a fun way to wrap up the year with the faculty serving the class dinner!. They head into the spring semester refreshed from a long winter break, ready to take on courses such as Surgery & Emergency Medicine, OBGYN, and Pediatrics.

Second-year students are currently immersed in clinical rotations and are wrapping up our fifth rotation. It is hard to believe we have already passed the halfway point of the clinical year and will soon begin preparing for our clinical assessment OSCE in March. Looking ahead, many students will be starting elective rotations for their sixth and seventh rotations in areas of personal interest. These electives offer an exciting opportunity to explore specific fields of medicine, refine clinical interests, and consider potential future career paths. In addition to clinical training, students have recently developed academic posters and abstracts based on compelling cases encountered during our rotations. Many of these submissions have been sent to the AAPA for consideration for publication and presentation at the Annual Conference in May in New Orleans.

Overall, the two classes came together to volunteer and raise funds for the philanthropy event supporting DESK. QU is very proud to have contribute the most cumulative time and donations. See the picture of some of our first-year students volunteering!

We are so proud to share and happy to extend a huge congratulations to the Class of 2025 who graduated at the beginning of December. We have soon-to-be PA-C’s going into emergency medicine, surgery, pediatrics, family medicine, and many more specialties. We wish them all the best on the PANCE and all that is to come in their careers. We know they are going to make excellent providers. The Class of 2026 has been hard at work in their clinical curriculum rotating throughout Connecticut inpatient, outpatient, and beyond. They have been practicing their clinical skills, employing their didactic knowledge, and sharing their professionalism with their preceptors across many different specialties. They officially finished their first 4 months of rotations in December, and have 12 months left until they are preparing to go out into the world as licensed practitioners. They are also hard at work completing their thesis project and we are excited to see what they have learned later this calendar year. We are so proud of all they have learned, seen, and done on their rotations thus far and can’t wait to hear what else is to come.

Lastly, our class of 2027 has officially completed the first semester of their didactic year. They have been knee-deep in learning the last 4 months, studying anatomy, hematology, dermatology, endocrinology, cardiology, and pulmonology. They have been practicing their history taking skills both in the patient-care setting within the Yale New Haven Hospital System and at the VA Hospital in West Haven, as well as with standardized patients; and have recently begun to practice the physical exam. They elected their Jack Cole Society officers, to serve as their student leadership board last fall, all of whom you can see featured on our most recent Instagram post.
