On June 7th, ConnAPA welcomed PA students from across Connecticut to our 2025 PA-Student Day, hosted this year at the Yale Physician Associate Program in New Haven. The day brought together students from all programs for a full schedule of education, networking, and fun.
The morning began with breakfast and networking with recruiters, followed by welcome remarks from David Brissette, Program Director at Yale, and Student Engagement Committee Co-Chairs Alec Williams, Julia Vanasse, and Deanna Sgambato.
Students then broke into interactive sessions designed to prepare them for their careers:
- Preparing for Life After PA School with Brooke Sullivan and Peter Lopez
- Thriving in Your Clinical Year with Brennan Bowker and Jara Chen
- Financial Literacy Workshop with Evan Gilchrest and Mike Rossley
The group reconvened for a lively panel, PAs in Executive Leadership, moderated by Nick Patino, which gave students a chance to hear from leaders shaping the profession beyond the bedside.
After a catered lunch, students participated in the always-popular New Grad Panel, where recent graduates shared candid advice about the transition into practice and answered student questions.
The day concluded with ConnAPA’s annual Challenge Bowl, where two teams from each program competed in a spirited test of clinical knowledge. This year, Quinnipiac University took home the trophy after an exciting final round.
To round out the event, students, panelists, and ConnAPA members gathered at a local brewery for a social hour and networking across programs—an opportunity to connect informally and celebrate the day.
PA Student Day continues to be one of ConnAPA’s most anticipated annual traditions, bringing together students, educators, and leaders to foster community, mentorship, and excitement for the future of the profession.
