Campbell Pagel, PA-S

Campbell Pagel is an extraordinary individual whose kindness, leadership, academic excellence, and commitment to service exemplify the highest ideals of the Physician Assistant/Associate profession.

Campbell is consistently kind, supportive, and uplifting to everyone around her. She brings positivity into every space she enters and gives 100 percent effort in everything she does. Her peers frequently rely on her encouragement and support, and she leads by example through her professionalism, empathy, and unwavering integrity. She is not only respected, but genuinely liked by faculty, staff, and those who learn alongside her.

Academically, Campbell Pagel is the epitome of excellence as a PA student. She is deeply committed to learning—not simply to perform well on exams, but because she approaches every concept through the lens of her future role as a healthcare provider. She strives to understand material fully so she can be prepared, capable, and confident when caring for patients. Her motivation is grounded in a sincere desire to provide the highest quality care to every individual she encounters.

Beyond the classroom, Campbell demonstrates an exceptional dedication to service, leadership, and professional advocacy. She serves as the program’s student representative to the Connecticut Academy of the PAs (ConnAPA), an opportunity she genuinely values. In this role, she actively collaborates with representatives from other cohorts within the university as well as PA students from programs across the state. She is passionate about fostering collaboration within the profession and strengthening connections among PA students, understanding that unity and shared purpose are vital to the future of healthcare.

Campbell Pagel has also been a key contributor to the program’s participation in the PAEA PA Student Success (PASS) Program, helping advance initiatives that promote access, diversity, and inclusion within the PA profession. She is especially passionate about outreach, working with her peers to visit schools ranging from elementary through college levels to speak about the PA role. Through these visits, she and her peers introduce students to a profession many had never heard of or believed was attainable for them. Her ability to inspire students of all ages and backgrounds is remarkable, and she works closely with her peers to ensure each activity is engaging, inclusive, and thoughtfully tailored to the specific audience.

In addition, Campbell has demonstrated a sincere interest in the learning opportunities presented by CT Area Health Education Center (CT-AHEC) learning opportunities beyond her required academic commitments. She values the chance to learn alongside students and faculty from other health professions and finds these interprofessional experiences invaluable as she deepens her understanding of the diverse populations within surrounding communities.

Her commitment to service is further demonstrated by her initiative in founding the university’s Red Cross Club. She has dedicated a significant portion of her time to working directly with the Red Cross to organize, host, and help run numerous blood drives throughout the local community. These efforts have had a tangible and lasting impact, strengthening community partnerships while addressing critical public health needs.

Remarkably, Campbell Pagel has accomplished all of this in her first year as a PA student. She happily participates in the program’s service-learning experiences, working with unhoused and older patient populations, but she also takes the initiative to further engage with the community outside of the University of Saint Joseph. She often shares that while she loves learning, it is working directly with the community—helping in any way she can—that truly “fills her cup.” This mindset reflects her deep compassion and her genuine commitment to service.

Campbell Pagel is not only intelligent and dedicated; she brings joy to everyone she interacts with—students, faculty, university staff, and community members of all ages and backgrounds. Her enthusiasm, warmth, and purpose are contagious. She will no doubt continue to make a profound impact as she advances along her educational and professional journey.
