
Jason Prevelige, DMSc, MBA, PA-C, DFAAPA has devoted his career to serving and advocating for the physician associate (PA) profession both locally and nationally. His leadership spans numerous roles, including serving two terms as President of the Connecticut Academy of Physician Associates (ConnAPA), contributing to multiple ConnAPA committees, and holding the position of Director-at-Large on the Board of the American Academy of PAs (AAPA). Currently, Jason holds the position of AAPA President. As AAPA President, Jason balances his local responsibilities with national leadership, demonstrating an extraordinary dedication to the PA profession. Throughout his Presidency, he has not shied away from taking on difficult challenges facing the PA profession. Additionally, he has served as the Legislative Committee Chair for ConnAPA for the past decade, dedicating countless hours to meetings, calls, and networking. Despite the often-underappreciated nature of this role, Jason continues to champion changes to statutes and regulations that enhance patient access to care and reduce administrative burdens, enabling PAs to fully utilize their education and license.
In addition to his advocacy efforts, Jason serves as the associate advanced practice provider leader in the emergency department at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, Connecticut, where he plays a pivotal role in delivering high-quality patient care.
Jason’s impact extends beyond leadership and advocacy—he is a mentor to practicing PAs, a preceptor for PA students, and an educator at several PA programs in Connecticut. He serves his community as chief of the Stratfield Volunteer Fire Department. A natural leader, Jason continually acknowledges the mentors and supporters who have guided him, embodying humility alongside his expertise and passion. His dedication, influence, and unwavering commitment to his colleagues and the profession make him a highly deserving for the prestigious PA of the Year award.
