President-Elect (Year 1)
- The term of office of the President-Elect shall be one year.
- If the President-Elect assumes the position of President due to vacancy of the office, they will fulfill the unexpired term of the President in addition to a successive term. A special election will be held to elect a new President-Elect.
- The President-Elect’s responsibilities shall include but are not limited to the following:
- Attend all Board and Academy business meetings.
- Uphold the responsibilities of a Board Member as outlined in the Academy Bylaws.
- Assume the duties of the President in his/her absence.
- With the President and Treasurer, review the ConnAPA investment policy and report annually to the Board of Directors if changes are needed.
- With the President, Treasurer, and Executive Director, formulate the budget for each fiscal year.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Board or President.
- Become familiar with all aspects of organization including history, committee operations, and financial status.
President (Year 2)
- In the event of a vacancy in the office of President, the President-Elect shall become the President to serve the remainder of the unexpired term.
- The term of office of the President shall be one year.
- The Academy budget will include a line item for expenses incurred in the performance of the duties of this office.
- The President’s responsibilities shall include but are not limited to the following:
- Uphold and enforce all ConnAPA by-laws, policies, and procedures.
- Establish agendas for and attend all Board of Directors meetings.
- Preside over all business meetings of ConnAPA and its Board of Directors.
- Provide a written report of the year’s activities prior to the annual meeting of the organization with an account of the activities of the Board for the past year.
- Serve as the Chief Delegate to the AAPA. Submit in writing any resolution recommendations to the AAPA House of Delegates to the Board of Directors at the meeting closest to the AAPA’s annual conference.
- Assist with transition of office and serve as a mentor for BOD position maturation.
- Stay informed on state, regional and national issues relevant to the profession.
- Establish and monitor the goals and objectives of ConnAPA.
- Support legislative endeavors, including attending fundraisers, writing letters and making contacts regarding proposed and pending legislation.
- Write a “President’s Message” for each edition of ConnAPA’s newsletter.
- Submit all requested AAPA paperwork.
- In consultation with the Board of Directors, designate chairs and serve as ex-officio member of all committees.
- In consultation with the Board of Directors, establish any ad hoc committees and designate chairs.
- With the President-Elect and Treasurer, review the ConnAPA investment policy and report annually to the Board of Directors if changes are needed.
- With the President-Elect, Treasurer, and Executive Director, formulate the budget for each fiscal year.
- Represent ConnAPA to outside organizations and the media.
- Attend AAPA Leadership and Advocacy Summit, or any successor versions.
- Attend applicable AAPA national and regional meetings.
Immediate Past President (Year 3)
- The term of office of the Immediate Past President shall be one year.
- If it is not possible for the Immediate Past President to fulfill these duties, the position shall remain vacant until the following year.
- The Immediate Past President’s responsibilities shall include but are not limited to the following:
- Serve as Chair of the Nominations & Elections Committee.
- Provide insight and wisdom to the function of the President and the Board.
- Serve as a mentor for BOD position maturation.
- Attend all Board and Academy business meetings.
- Participate in Committees at the direction of the President.
- Assist President with coordination of the annual orientation and Past President Forum.
- Serve as representative of the President as requested.
- Fulfill the duties of the President-Elect in the event of the President-Elect assuming the role of President to complete an unexpired term.
