Bridgeport Rescue Mission: “Feeding Families” Radio Campaign
On Thursday November 13th, several students from the Class of 2016 volunteered with the Bridgeport Rescue Mission phonathon in support of the “Feeding Families” radio campaign. This is the third consecutive year that the Bridgeport Rescue Mission has partnered with Cumulus Media stations WEBE 108 and WICC 600. Each month the Mission serves an average of 12,000 prepared meals and distributes 15,000 pantry bag meals throughout Fairfield County. This Thanksgiving alone, they will provide up to more than 20,000 meals. It was a very rewarding experience for UBPAI students to participate in such a wonderful event.

The event was organized as part of the continued effort from the University of Bridgeport Physician Assistant Institute to participate in community outreach. At the event students performed blood pressure screenings and raised health prevention awareness. There was mobile mammography at the event as well.
Participants also learned about various alternative medicines including Naturopathy, Acupuncture, and Chiropractic medicine programs at the University of Bridgeport. These services are available through the UB Clinic. There was also information on dental hygiene and the Fones School of Dental Hygiene Clinic.
