The University of Bridgeport Physician Assistant Institute hosted its 3rd Annual Gala at the Trumbull Marriot on Saturday, February 21st. This year’s Gala was hosted by the Class of 2016; tickets benefited the Fichandler Student Society. The event was another great opportunity for faculty and students to get to know each other outside of the classroom setting. This year’s guest speaker was Richard S. Pope, MPAS, PA-C. Mr. Pope is an adjunct professor of Rheumatology at the UBPAI. During his speech he spoke about the values of the profession, the dedication required, and his rewarding experiences. In the end he reminded us to always be our patient’s advocate. The night also consisted of food, dancing, raffle prizes, and above all the Bruce C. Fichandler Scholarship Award. This Scholarship is awarded to two UBPAI students who reflect excellent academic achievement, volunteerism, and dedication to the profession. This year’s winners are Brett Healy (Class of 2016) and Danielle Depeau (Class of 2015). Next year’s Gala will be hosted by the Class of 2017.
