The MGH Institute of Health Professions invites applications for an Academic Coordinator/Associate Chair for a new Master of Physician Assistant Studies program to begin in 2015. We are seeking a dynamic individual who will be part of an interprofessional team within the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences (SHRS).††Located in the historic Charlestown Navy Yard in Boston, the MGH Institute is affiliated with Partners HealthCare System, which includes the Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Womenís Hospital, Spaulding Rehabilitation Network, as well as a physicianís network, community health centers, and other healthcare entities. Responsibilities: The Academic Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the program director in all aspects of academic leadership and administration within the department, including setting strategic direction, curriculum development and evaluation, and contributing to leadership and interprofessional growth within the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. The Academic Coordinator will also play a prominent role in developing the programís self study in preparation for an ARC-PA provisional accreditation site visit in April, 2014. The Academic Coordinator will have limited teaching responsibilities, and will be expected to participate in scholarly activities.
Qualifications: The Academic Coordinator must hold a masterís degree, with a doctorate preferred, be an NCCPA-certified physician assistant or board-certified physician with eligibility for licensure in Massachusetts, and have at least 5 years of clinical experience. Other qualified individuals may be considered, as appropriate. Previous academic leadership, PA program development and experience with ARC-PA accreditation are highly desirable. The applicant should have strong communication and organizational skills, with evidence of leadership. The position is a 12-month appointment, with rank and salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. The Institute does not have tenure.
